More than 32,000 square feet of new and renovated space will expand emergency and interventional care for the growing Queen Creek community.

On August 27, 2026, Banner Health, ARCHSOL, Mortenson, project partners, and members of the community gathered at Banner Ironwood Medical Center to mark the beginning of construction on a major expansion designed to increase capacity, improve the patient experience, and support the hospital’s continued growth.
Located at 37000 N. Gantzel Road in Queen Creek, Arizona, the project will add more than 32,000 square feet to the Banner Ironwood campus.
As the architect for the expansion, ARCHSOL is working closely with Banner Health and Mortenson to deliver new clinical environments that respond to increasing demand while integrating thoughtfully with the existing hospital.
Expanding Emergency and Interventional Care
A central component of the project is a new two-story addition to the existing emergency department.
The expansion will include a new interventional radiology suite with dedicated pre- and post-procedure space, while also creating capacity for future growth as healthcare needs in the region continue to evolve.
The project will also expand the hospital’s emergency department lobby, providing additional space to better accommodate patients and families and improve the experience from arrival through treatment and discharge.
These improvements are intended to support increased patient capacity while addressing important aspects of emergency care, including patient privacy, wait times, clinical workflow, and the ability to care for critically ill patients.

New spaces must support clinical operations, connect efficiently with existing departments, accommodate complex infrastructure, and allow construction to move forward while the hospital continues serving patients.

Banner Ironwood Medical Center has served Queen Creek and the surrounding region for more than a decade. As the Southeast Valley continues to grow, healthcare facilities must be prepared to respond to increased patient volumes and evolving clinical needs.

The Banner Ironwood expansion is currently scheduled for completion in December 2027.
